Women’s March Madness scores, Sweet 16 live updates: UConn, Texas seek to reach Elite Eight; Notre Dame falls

The Sweet 16 of the 2025 Women’s NCAA Tournament concludes Saturday with four highly anticipated matchups. Half the Elite Eight field was set Friday with South Carolina, UCLA, LSU and Duke advancing.

Notre Dame and TCU opened Saturday’s action, and Hailey Van Lith helped power the Horned Frogs to their first Elite Eight in program history. Van Lith tallied 26 points and nine rebounds while Sedona Prince added 21 points and six blocks. Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles comprise what’s considered the best backcourt in the sport, but both struggled mightily — particularly Hidalgo, who went 3 of 19 from the field. TCU will play either Texas or Tennessee in the Elite Eight.

Texas will take on Tennessee in the second game of the day. Defense is the Longhorns’ calling card, but they’ll need to be more consistent offensively to avoid an upset against a Tennessee team that proved capable of punching above its weight all season.

Paige Bueckers and UConn are facing Raegan Beers and Oklahoma. The Huskies have the advantage in the backcourt with Bueckers and Fudd finally healthy and dominant together, while Beers’ presence down low will be a challenge for star freshman Sarah Strong. Whoever wins this game will meet USC or Kansas State in the following round.

To end the night, USC is playing Kansas State in its first full game without Juju Watkins, who tore her ACL in the Trojans’ Round of 32 win over Mississippi State. With Watkins out, Kiki Iriafen will have an increased role offensively while also helping to contain skilled center Ayoka Lee on the other end.
