Future Super Bowl host cities

Here’s what to know about the upcoming Super Bowl host cities and stadiums where the games will be played.

Santa Clara, California: Levi’s Stadium

Levi’s Stadium – home of the San Francisco 49ers – was granted the right to host Super Bowl 60 in 2026. It will be the second time the stadium, which opened in 2014, will host the big game.

Levi’s Stadium first hosted the Super Bowl in 2016, when the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers squared off in a defensive battle. Von Miller (6 tackles, 2.5 sacks) helped lead Denver to a 24-10 victory with an MVP performance and sent Peyton Manning riding into the sunset with his second Lombardi Trophy to cap off Super Bowl 50.

Levi’s Stadium has a maximum capacity of 68,500, uses real grass as opposed to artificial turf and is an outdoor stadium. It hosted the 2019 College Football Playoff national championship game and is set to host multiple matchups when the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to North America.

Inglewood, California: SoFi Stadium

Yes, the Super Bowl is set to be in California in back-to-back seasons. The NFL is making a rapid return to SoFi Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl 56 and saw its main tenant, the Los Angeles Rams, beat the Cincinnati Bengals 24-21 in that contest.

SoFi Stadium opened in 2020. It has a capacity of 70,240 that can be expanded to an excess of 100,000 for major events. The stadium features a roof, but the NFL also considers it an open-air stadium, as the canopy above it can be partially opened to increase ventilation.

Unlike most California arenas, SoFi Stadium uses artificial turf instead of real grass. This is because maintaining natural grass in a stadium hosting two NFL teams would prove difficult.

SoFi Stadium also hosted the 2023 College Football Playoff national championship game and is scheduled to host eight FIFA World Cup matches in 2026. It will also house the opening ceremony and swimming events for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Atlanta: Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Atlanta is set to host its fourth Super Bowl in 2028. It will mark the second time Mercedes-Benz Stadium has hosted the event, as the previous two took place in the Georgia Dome.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium was home to Super Bowl 53, when the New England Patriots beat the Rams 13-3. It marked the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in NFL history.

The stadium has a capacity up to 75,000 for football games and features a synthetic surface. The stadium has a retractable roof and a giant video board below the roof known as “The Halo.”

Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017 and has hosted college football events including the SEC football championship game, the Peach Bowl and the both the 2018 and 2025 College Football Playoff national championship games.
