What’s wrong with Stephen Curry? Not exactly a good night

Throwing two stones and only hitting the air, the Golden State Warrior’s legend, Stephen Curry finds himself in a very unlikely position. Making headlines for setting records that are difficult to break, Curry has been on a winning streak and this recent event is shocking to fans. Finding himself in a heated argument with a coach and ending of the game with a low point count, ranking as one of his worst lowest-scoring performances, many wonder ‘what may be wrong with Stephen Curry?’.

The game that ended bad for Curry

Putting in their all to win against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night at Chase Centre, the Houston Rockets stayed on brand as high ranked in the West, bringing home 106-96 road win. Bringing in the points for the Rockets was Dillon Brooks with 24 points and shooting 10-for-13 from the field, Jalen Green shooting 21 points and three three-points and Alperen Şengün brought 19 points, 14 rebounds, leading the team in boards.

The leading players of the Warriors, was Buddy Hield, scoring 20 points and hitting six three-pointers, Brandin Podziemski hitting 19 points and bringing four three-points and finally Gary Payton II who scored 16 points. ‘Did Steph Curry miss the game?’ you might ask, well the legend, by the looks of it, was sussed out by Rockets’ coach Udoka and had a season-low of only three points.

From averaging 41.7 points over 51.3% from his last three games to only scoring three points against the Houston Rockets, Stephen Curry’s disappointing game didn’t end with just that trajectory. Being caught up in a verbal altercation with Udoka, Curry said, “He made a reservation at International Smoke and canceled it. I was upset with him”.

Details about the altercation: why Curry got angry

A rare occasion took place as the player that hardly gets into altercations with players and the NBA, finds himself defying a coach. The Warriors’ star, Stephen Curry stepped away from the court during halftime at Sunday’s match with the Houston Rockets, with cameras capturing a back-and-forth altercation with the head coach of the Houston Rockets, Ime Udoka.

With the scores at a 51-50, favouring the Rockets, Udoka was seen walking up to Curry and saying something that had Curry shaking his head until it ended with both heading to their locker rooms. To respond to Udoka, Curry was said to have a few words which didn’t get ignored as Udoka is not one to back down. Reporters asking Udoka what happened, he said “I was talking to my team about the physicality … This is the type of game we like. This is who we are.”

This is nothing new when it comes to Udoka as the coach has previously been ejected during a moment with Lakers’ star LeBron James in 2023. The altercation between Udoka and Curry was perceived to be minor, as nothing happened to both of them and the game continued as is. However, it didn’t continue as a normal Warriors game with Steph Curry not shooting his “Curry” moves.

Where this leaves the Warriors and Rockets

The rank for different teams in their conferences are all the buzz as the NBA playoffs will be soon commencing. The game between the Warriors and Rockets has put the Warriors in a four-way tie with the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Memphis Grizzlies as the 5th ranked in the Western Conference.

The Rockets sitting at 52 game wins and 27 losses and the Warriors at 46 wins and 32 losses, the possibilities for the teams to play against each other in playoffs if the ranks shake out for their win.

The Warriors legend, Stephen Curry has experienced two shaky moments in one with the minor altercation between him and Rockets’ head coach Ime Udoka and scoring one of his lowest points in an NBA game. While this rare moment occurred and shocked the fans, the comeback of Stephen Curry is bound to happen with the Golden State Warriors already doing a great job to improve their records and Curry’s past amazing games. Putting in their all to avoid the play ins, the Rockets and Warriors stand on a solid ground to verse each other in the playoffs.
