The Orioles can clinch their first series victory of the season with a win today against the Red Sox. Baltimore will send out a right-handed heavy lineup to face LHP Garrett Crochet. Crochet will make his first start since signing a six-year, $170 million extension with the Sox.
Jordan Westburg will get the nod as the leadoff hitter with designated hitter Adley Rutschman batting second. Gary Sánchez will bat sixth and catch starter Zach Eflin. Eflin delivered six innings of two run ball and secured a win on Opening Day.
Tyler O’Neill will look to build on his hot start while batting third and playing right field. O’Neill be joined in the outfield by Ramón Laureano and Cedric Mullins. Mullins will be the only left-handed hitter in the starting lineup.
Ryan Mountcastle will bat cleanup, but the lineup feels less than intimidating from five-through-nine. Laureano and Sánchez will slide in as the fifth and sixth batters. Ramón Urías (third base), Jorge Mateo (shortstop) and Mullins (center field) will round out the batting order.
Maybe the bottom of the order will surprise us?
