SEVERE WEATHER STARTS TONIGHT: A storm system will bring strong to severe storms to the area this evening into part of the overnight. Storms will likely start after 7 pm, but a few isolated severe storms could develop before that. With a few of the individual storms, tornadoes and hail will be the greatest threat. As storms consolidate into a line, damaging winds will be the main threat with some wind gusts possibly reaching to 70 mph. A few tornadoes, along with large hail is also possible with the line, especially in areas west of I-65. The severe weather threat will continue into the early overnight period as storms move east and slow down.
FLOOD WATCH: Rounds of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday. A few of the storms during the afternoon and evening could produce strong winds. More heavy rain is in the forecast for part of Friday and on Saturday.
Heavy rainfall will lead to areas of flooding in ditches, poor drainage areas, and on roadways. It could also lead to some significant river flooding as well. REMEMBER: “Turn around, don’t drown.” The heavy rain threat ends Sunday, and the forecast is much drier to start next week.
