Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli has become the highest run-getter against Chennai Super Kings in IPL history. During the IPL 2025 match, Kohli scored 31 runs, taking his total to 1,084 runs. He overtook Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 1,057 runs. Kohli achieved this milestone in 34 matches and 33 innings.
NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli etched his name into the record books once again during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Though Kohli struggled to accelerate, his 31-run knock off 30 balls saw him surpass Shikhar Dhawan to become the highest run-getter against CSK in IPL history.

With this innings, Kohli’s overall tally against CSK reached 1,084 runs, overtaking Dhawan’s previous record of 1,057 runs. Kohli took 33 innings in 34 matches to achieve the milestone, whereas Dhawan had set the record in 29 innings. The two remain the only batters to have crossed the 1,000-run mark against CSK in the IPL.
Kohli’s highest score against CSK remains an unbeaten 90, and he has registered nine half-centuries against them. He has accumulated these runs at an average of 37.37 and a strike rate of 125.46. In contrast, Dhawan’s tally includes a century (101*) and eight fifties.
Rohit Sharma follows in third place with 896 runs in 35 matches, while Dinesh Karthik (727 runs in 33 matches) and David Warner (696 runs in 21 matches) complete the top five list.
