The Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies came down to the wire and the Grizzlies came out on top 122-115.
It was a pretty typical loss for the Jazz where they got down and came back to nearly win it in the end. At one point, Utah was down by 19 and then took the lead with a few minutes left in the 4th.
The difference in the game for Memphis was Luke Kennard who had a monster night scoring 30 points on 11/14 including 7/9 from three. Ja Morant also had a nice night with 28 points on great efficiency too.
The Jazz have to feel relief, having just come off a $100k fine for resting Lauri Markkanen, who is considered a “star player.” In this one, Markkanen went 5/14 from the field and 3/9 from three and missed a couple of big threes at the end that would have changed the game, instead the Grizzlies won it out. The Jazz did get a great night again from John Collins who was 8/12 from the field with 22 points. The combo of Collins and Kessler has become really good this season and shows just how well both players are capable of molding themselves into whatever style the team needs. It’s a great sign for Kessler who is getting better every game. Tonight, Kessler had 14 rebounds and 5 assists with 9 points. Kessler is becoming a really nice player and is going to demand a big contract when the time comes.
With that loss, the Jazz continue on their trek towards Cooper Flagg, someone that would change the franchise forever. Whatever fines the NBA throws the Jazz way, it’ll all be worth it when the Jazz select a player in the top-4 that changes everything for the team.
