President Trump is watching Super Bowl LIX from the 50-yard line of the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The big picture: It’s rare for a sitting president to attend the sporting event. His presence is adding an extra level of security to a city already on edge after the New Year’s Day terror attack.

  • NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Saints owner Gayle Benson and Ivanka Trump are sitting with the president.
  • During the national anthem, Trump saluted while Benson and Ivanka Trump stood next to him with their hands over their hearts.
  • He met with loved ones of victims in the terrorist attack before the game. Go deeper.

Zoom in: Trump told Fox he predicts the Chiefs will win the big game.

  • He’s wearing a suit with a red tie — the Chiefs’ colors.

What he said: “Football is America’s most popular sport — for good reason — it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together and strengthening communities,” Trump said in a White House statement.
