Tornado watch issued for Midstate and Southern Ky. amid severe storms

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 10:58 p.m.) — Tornado warnings have been issued for Williamson, Franklin, Decatur, and Perry Counties until 11:45 p.m.

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 10:15 p.m.) — A tornado warning has been issued for Decatur County until 11 p.m. The tornado warning for Humphreys Hickman and Dickson has been extended to 11 p.m.

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 9:58 p.m.) — Multiple tornado warnings have been issued for the following counties: Dickson, Houston, and Humphreys counties until 10:45 p.m. and for Logan, and far northern Simpson, Kentucky until 10:15 p.m.

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 9:45 p.m.) — The tornado warning for Stewart County has been canceled.

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 9:12 p.m.) — A tornado warning has been issued for Stewart County until 9:45 p.m.

UPDATED (Sun, March 30, 9:00 p.m.) — A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Kentucky and Tennessee until 3 a.m. CST.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — FOX17 News is in a Code Red Alert for severe storms Sunday evening into early Monday morning.

While a few isolated storms are expected early in the evening, the main line will arrive later in Middle Tennessee on Sunday night and last through the night. It’s important to have multiple ways to get alerts that can wake you up in the middle of the night.

The timing for these storms will be between Sunday 6 p.m. through Monday 6 a.m.

A few isolated storms may form ahead of the main line, between 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The main line is expected to push through between 9 p.m. on Sunday – 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Wind and large hail are the main threats with this event, but a few tornadoes will be possible ahead of the line and within the line as well.

Once again, make sure you have a plan before going to bed Sunday evening and have multiple ways to get alerts through the overnight.

On the heels of the Sunday into Monday event, another round of strong storms appears possible for Wednesday, April 2. We’ll keep an eye on it, but let’s stay focused on this weekend first.
