Tornado Warning in Middle TN; Tornado Watch in Middle TN & Southern KY

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Please be Weather Alert overnight tonight for strong storms. Have a way to get storm warnings while you are asleep and do not silence your cell phone.

A Tornado Warning has been issued in Lawrence, Lewis, and Wayne counties until 1:15 a.m.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for most of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until 3 a.m. Other watches could be issued later for our far eastern counties.

The Storm Prediction Center nudged the Category 3 “Enhanced Risk” farther eastward to cover all of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky for Sunday evening, overnight into early Monday morning.

All modes of severe weather are possible. The strongest thunderstorms could produce wind gusts over 80 mph, hail as large as 2″ (hen egg sized), and tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center mentioned the possibility of strong tornadoes, meaning EF-2 or stronger.

What makes this severe threat more dangerous is the fact that it will move through when most folks are sleeping. The storms will begin as early as 6 p.m. for our far northwestern counties and last through sunrise on Monday in our eastern counties. LOOKING AHEAD:

We have more threats for severe weather on Wednesday evening/night, and again on Thursday.

In addition, a stationary front across our northwestern counties could bring heavy rain amounts from Wednesday through Saturday that could cause flooding in our western and northwestern counties.
