The Beatles franchise cast announced: Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan to headline

Acclaimed director Sam Mendes has officially announced the cast for his ambitious four-film Beatles biopic project, set to premiere in April 2028. The confirmation came during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where production company Sonu Pictures unveiled details of the highly anticipated project.

Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will take on the role of George Harrison, Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson will star as John Lennon.

Mendes, an Oscar-winning filmmaker known for American Beauty and 1917, described the release as the “first binge-able theatrical experience,” with each film focusing on a different member of the legendary band.

Mendes said, “I’ve been trying to make a story about The Beatles for years. While their rise to fame has been well-chronicled, I can assure you there is still plenty to explore.”

The films will be released in close succession, an unconventional strategy that Mendes believes will reinvigorate cinema attendance. “Frankly, we need big cinematic events to get people out of the house,” he added.

Mendes’ Beatles project is expected to be one of the most ambitious music biopics in history, with each film offering a unique perspective on the personal and creative journeys of the Fab Four.
