Steph Curry Makes NBA History in Warriors-Rockets Game 3

The Golden State Warriors are facing an uphill battle in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets on Saturday without the injured Jimmy Butler.

However, they have battled the Rockets step by step into the fourth quarter largely thanks to Stephen Curry, who is having an outstanding performance.

At age 37, he is still going strong and playing at the type of level people have become accustomed to seeing him perform at over the years. During the game, he moved into 10th place on the NBA‘s all-time career playoff scoring list by surpassing former San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker.

Curry didn’t play well in the Warriors’ Game 2 loss on Wednesday, but in Game 1, he put up 31 points on 12-of-19 field-goal shooting in a hard-earned 95-85 win.

During the first half of the regular season, it looked like wear and tear had finally caught up to him in his 16th NBA season. But the early February trade for Butler, a six-time All-Star forward, changed everything for a Warriors franchise that looked like it was slowly sinking in quicksand.

Curry looked like his old self once the trade was consummated, and it led many to peg Golden State as a legitimate championship contender once again.

Butler took a nasty spill in Game 2 and suffered a pelvic contusion, which led to him being ruled out for Game 3. He had 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in that Game 1 victory.
