All eyes look towards the season finale of A-1 Pictures’ smash-hit Solo Leveling anime, with its animation producer now opening up about the potential of a Season 3 in a new video reveal.
In the latest installment of Aniplex After Hours, voice actor Sally Amaki took a tour of A-1 Pictures — behind popular titles including Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist and Kaguya-sama — and showcased the anime production process and the making of Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 6 (Episode 18 overall). After meeting with animation producer Atsushi Kaneko, storyboarder and creative/episode director Takayuki Kikuchi, key animators Atsushi Yonezawa and Kaito Hashimoto, and CG director Toshitaka Morioka, the group held a Q&A session, where Kaneko teased Solo Leveling‘s future. Readers can check it out below.
RelatedAfter the adventure that has been Solo Leveling Season 2, Sung Jinwoo sets his sights on what comes next in the upcoming season finale.
At 39:08, Kaneko said, “I hope the next time you watch the anime, you’ll imagine all the creators and staff working behind the scenes. With Episode 25, which will be broadcast soon, the TV anime series Solo Leveling will come to an end, for now. Will this end be temporary or not? I honestly don’t know what the future will bring. With the encouragement and support of everyone watching, it may continue, or it may not. Personally, I really hope it does. This anime has made it this far thanks to all of you, so I hope you’ll keep supporting us even after the final episode. Please look forward to the finale.” Kaneko also teased the final cut of Season 2, hoping fans would look forward to what Jinwoo says at the very end. He also showcased series director Shunsuke Nakashige‘s artwork for the final episode, seen above.
Additional comments from the staff included likening Solo Leveling‘s production to preparing for a school festival, explaining the difference between a good and bad storyboard, and revealing the change to a major fight scene. Trusting in action director Yoshihiro Kanno’s skills, who had been assigned a fight scene between Igris, Tank and the orcs, the animators changed the plan for Kanno’s cut from a scene with many cuts to a single flowing one, worth a stunning 26 seconds.

Crunchyroll streams both Solo Leveling seasons in English subbed and dubbed, describing the series: “They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.”
