PHILADELPHIA — Emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash in northeast Philadelphia with multiple casualties, according to multiple reports.
Two people were aboard the plane, police told CBS News Philadelphia, and there were injuries reported on the ground. Homes nearby reportedly caught fire in the aftermath of the crash. Police said the crash happened in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue, near the Roosevelt Mall, according to reports.
Details were not immediately available about the victims’ status or cause of the crash.
It comes just two days after a commercial airliner and military helicopter collided near Reagan Washington National Airport outside of Washington, D.C., killing all 67 aboard both aircraft.
