Seattle’s Soundgarden to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

SEATTLE — Seattle’s own Soundgarden is set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025, the Hall announced.

The band, which formed in 1984, is celebrated as one of the pioneers of grunge music.

Soundgarden’s career came to a tragic halt in 2017 with the death of lead singer Chris Cornell. The band will become the third of the “Big Four” of Seattle’s grunge scene to receive this honor, following in the footsteps of Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

Joining Soundgarden in this year’s class are Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, and The White Stripes.
