CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — UTC sent out an active shooter alert to students and staff early Thursday afternoon. We’re on the scene and working to learn more about what happened.

Watch our livestream as new information about what happened continues to come in:

The alert, sent at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, says

UTC-ALERT: Possible active shooter in University Center or Library. Run. Hide. fight. More info forthcoming.

A subsequent alert from the university said there is ‘no threat on campus at this time.’

A Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman tells us this started as a shots fired call. As of 1 p.m., she says police have not located any victims on campus.

The incident drew a large police presence to the campus.

All students on campus are currently sheltering in place.

The person who took the above photo told our newsroom that students who were filing out of the library after the incident were met by police with guns drawn, telling them as they filed out that “this is not a drill.”

We have a crew on the scene gathering details. This is a developing story which we’ll update as we get new info, so check back later.

Depend on us to keep you posted.
