Pittsburgh Steelers miss on trade for rocket-armed quarterback

The New England Patriots are trading quarterback Joe Milton to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round pick. In return, they will get Milton and a seventh-round pick. That means Milton will not be coming to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they seem to think they will be landing Aaron Rodgers.

The Pattriots’ original ask for Milton was a third-round pick, but they had to lower that offer. At the NFL owners’ meetings, general manager Omar Khan noted that the team had a good idea of what the trade market would look like at this time of year.

“I think by this time as we are right here, we kind of have a feel for what’s out there and what other teams are thinking, and conversations happen here, they happen on the phone. They start at the Combine, usually, and so we have an idea of what’s out there at this point. That’s not just quarterback, that’s all positions,” Khan said.

Milton came out of Tennessee as a strong-armed, but raw quarterback. In his one game of playing time with the Patriots, he impressed, throwing for 241 yards and one touchdown while completing 75.9 percent of his passes.
