Philly plane crash: Small aircraft reportedly crashes in Northeast Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA – Emergency officials are responding to reports of a plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia late Friday afternoon. 

The incident occurred around 6 p.m.near Cottman Avenue and Bustleton Avenue.

Witnesses reported multiple cars were on fire after the plane went down as neighbors nearby heard loud explosions.

There are reports from eyewitnesses who thought they were hearing thunder.

Viewer-provided Ring Doorbell video shared with FOX 29 shows what appears to be a plane in the distance falling out of the sky, followed by a large explosion with huge plumes of smoke.

FOX 29’s Steve Keeley is at the scene and reports stepping over debris and observing several active fires within minutes of the crash. 

A worker from a nearby business said he saw a “big old explosion of light from out of nowhere.”
