Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler UFC 314 result: ‘The Baddy’ scores vicious KO in bloody co-main event

Paddy Pimblett catapulted himself into title contention with an epic win at UFC 314.

‘The Baddy’ went 6-0 in the Octagon to secure a fight with former three-time Bellator champion, Michael Chandler.

Paddy Pimblett promised to take out his toughest opponent yet inside two rounds at UFC 314.

‘Iron Mike’ managed to survive 10 minutes before getting stopped in round three on Saturday night.

Pimblett hammered away with low leg kicks early as Chandler looked to test his chin with big bombs before deciding to take the fight to the floor after 90 seconds.

The Englishman worked his way back up using a kimura grip before jumping for a flying triangle that allowed Chandler to re-establish top control for a moment.

There were more leg kicks from Pimblett and a couple of eye-catching headshots from Chandler as the first round of their UFC 314 co-main event came to a close.

The rising star started round two with a strong striking offense, which was derailed when his ‘dirty’ opponent landed an inadvertent kick to the groin.

Chandler went back to work with his grappling when the fight resumed, but he ended up on the bottom fending off big elbows and submission attempts until the horn sounded.

Pimblett cut Chandler with a knee at the very start of round three. The 30-year-old began throwing flying attacks before dumping his opponent onto the Octagon floor, where he kept throwing strikes until the fight was waved off.

Conor McGregor recently declared his interest in the UFC 314 co-main event as he teased a comeback.

Just hours before the show got started, he made his feelings on the matchup clear.

McGregor placed a $500,000 bet on Chandler to get his career back on track by knocking out Pimblett in ‘brutal’ fashion.

The former dual-weight UFC champion stood to make $2.5 million if his bold bet came off.

Ultimately, Pimblett proved McGregor and many other people wrong by picking up a career-best win.
