Tyrese Haliburton made a go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter to help the Indiana Pacers beat the Sacramento Kings 111-109 on Monday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Aaron Nesmith scored 24 points for the Pacers (44-41), who trailed throughout the second half before staging a 10-0 run in the final 2:35.
Obi Toppin came off the bench to post 19 points and seven rebounds for the Pacers. Hailburton, who was drafted by Sacramento and later traded to Indiana, finished with 18 points and 11 assists.
DeMar DeRozan had 31 points and eight assists for the Kings (36-39), who are trying to hold onto the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Domantas Sabonis had 25 points and 16 rebounds. Zach LaVine scored 20 points. Malik Monk was held to five points on 2-of-14 shooting with five turnovers.
The Kings will be back in action Wednesday when they visit the Washington Wizards.
Halftime report
The Kings trailed by 10 after missing nine of their first 12 shots. They had a look of lethargy like they did in Saturday’s 30-point loss to the Orlando Magic, but they came to life following a big dunk by Sabonis.
The Kings staged a 10-0 run to tie the game and led 28-27 at the end of the first quarter. The Pacers went up 50-46 late in the second quarter, but the Kings outscored them 14-4 over the final 3:34 to take a 60-54 lead at halftime.
LaVine and Sabonis scored 14 points apiece in the first half. DeRozan had 12.
Second half
Sacramento went up 76-60 after outscoring Indiana 16-6 to start the second half. The Pacers came back to cut the deficit to five at the end of the third quarter.
The Kings went up 93-84 on a 3-pointer by DeRozan early in the fourth quarter. The Pacers got within one on a floater by Haliburton with 4:11 to go.
The Kings led 98-95 following a basket by DeRozan with 2:50 to play, but Haliburton made a layup, a 3-pointer and two free throws as part of a 10-0 run that put the Pacers up 105-98 with 23.1 seconds remaining.
