The Denver Nuggets were at home on Tuesday as they faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Ball Arena.
Denver got off to a hot start in the game, leading Minnesota by six points at the end of the first quarter. The two teams then went blow-for-blow for the rest of the game that ended up going into double overtime.
In the second overtime, the Nuggets led the Timberwolves by one point when Russell Westbrook fouled Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 0.1 seconds remaining, allowing Alexander-Walker to knock down two free throws to secure the 140-139 victory.
It was a crushing loss for the Nuggets, especially with the performance that their superstar center Nikola Jokic put on.

Jokic led the way for the Nuggets as he recorded a career-high 61 points to go along with 10 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals.
Not only did Jokic set a new career-high in points in Tuesday’s loss, but he also made NBA history as he scored the most points in any triple-double in NBA history.
This is just another incredible feat for the three-time MVP award winner and this could go along ways into helping him try and close the gap between him and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the MVP race with the regular season winding down.
While Jokic did everything he could to try and propel the Nuggets to a victory on Tuesday, they were unable to take down the Timberwolves. This now marks Denver’s seventh consecutive loss against Minnesota.
Of course, the Nuggets were without both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. in Tuesday’s loss and they played well enough to win despite being without two of their key players.
Denver will now look to bounce back on Friday when they travel to take on the red-hot Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center.
