No victims found so far after active shooter reported on UT Chattanooga campus, police say

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Chattanooga Police Department is working to confirm reports of shots being fired on the University of Tennessee Chattanooga campus, according to the agency.

CPD said on X, previously Twitter, that officers had not found any victims.

“[THP Chattanooga] and TN Office of Homeland Security Agents on the scene of a reported active shooter on the campus of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, assisting local authorities who are leading the investigation. Still gathering facts & they will have official info soon,” the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.

The university itself sent a warning to students around 1 p.m., saying there was a possible shooter in the university center or library.

FBI Nashville also released a brief statement, saying agents were responding and the agency was supporting local law enforcement.

This is a developing story.
