Nintendo teased the Switch successor Thursday morning.
The company released a teaser trailer offering a first look at the new console, the Switch 2. While similar to the original device, the Switch 2 appears to be larger, with a new kickstand and a rounder, sleeker design. The Joy-Cons, which also are updated, will still be removable for docked or portable play.
The new console will have exclusive games — both physical and digital — and it will be backwards compatible with the original Switch.
The specific release date for the Switch 2 has not yet been announced, but the company has said it is coming in 2025.

Nintendo said more details will be shared at the Switch 2-focused Direct on April 2.
The original Nintendo Switch, first released in 2017, is one of the top-selling gaming consoles globally, with more than 143 million units sold as of October 2024.
