New Orleans Mardi Gras party moves to French Quarter after successful Zulu, Rex parades

Everywhere else, it’s just Tuesday. But today, New Orleans threw the biggest free party in the world.Latest forecast | Download the WDSU Parade Tracker app | Full schedule of parades This year weather concerns bumped parade times up from their normal schedule. Zulu began at 6:30 a.m. followed by Rex at 9:30 a.m. Both rolled on shortened routes. Zulu held its traditional toast at Gallier Hall before disbanding at Poydras and Loyola. Rex followed Zulu and started at Napoleon Ave. and S Claiborne Ave. This year, Rex did not toast at Gallier Hall, but instead toasted his queen at Pascal’s Manale. The parade disband at St. Charles Avenue and Calliope Street. The truck floats that follow Zulu and Rex have were cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday, March 9 at a time to be determined.The Krewe of Argus and truck parades in Jefferson Parish were cancelled. The Krewe of Bogue Falaya in Covington will rolled at 9:15 a.m. The Krewe of Houmas rolled in Houma at 11:30 a.m. The WDSU News team provided all-day live coverage of the festivities.
