Multiple homes damaged after house explosion in Northwest Austin

AUSTIN – The Austin Fire Department is investigating what may have caused a two-story home to explode Sunday just before noon.

What we know:

The home in the 10400 block of Double Spur Loop collapsed, and three people were found inside the rubble.

The initial call was for a possible house explosion.

EMS is treating three people who were pulled from the rubble. One firefighter has minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Fire crews are extinguishing small spot fires in the collapsed debris. 

Officials say several neighboring homes were damaged. They say one home completely collapsed, and another house is partially collapsed.

Power is out in the area due to power lines damaged in the explosion, according to Austin Fire.

What we don’t know:

The identity of the people found in the rubble and the extent of their injuries is not known.

The cause of the explosion is not known.
