- Baylor capitalized on Ole Miss’ inability to make a shot during the final five minutes of the second quarter. The Bears scored 10 unanswered points to close out the first half and went into the break with a 29-26 lead.
- Aaronette Vonleh leads Baylor with 10 points, followed by six from Jada Walker. Sira Thienou has eight for Ole Miss, with Madison Scott adding six. However, the Rebels are shooting 30% from the floor, including going 0-for-5 on 3-pointers.
- Actually, Baylor hasn’t made a 3 either, despite shooting 41%. Both teams are a combined 0-of-13 from behind the arc.
- South Carolina is moving on to the Sweet Sixteen after a strong 64-53 win over Indiana.
- The Hoosiers gave the defending champs a good scare, going up by as many as eight and ending the first half with a one-point lead. But South Carolina went on a roll in the third quarter and kept up the energy through the rest of the half to secure an 11-point win.
- It was a true team effort for the Gamecocks, with every single player that got playing time picking up points. South Carolina’s Chloe Kitts ended with a double-double after going scoreless in the first half, putting up 10 points and 11 rebounds. Te-Hina Paopao put up an incredibly complete performance for the Gamecocks, with nine points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and four blocks.
- South Carolina’s journey towards a potential second-straight championship continues with a Sweet Sixteen matchup against the winner of Alabama-Maryland, which takes place tomorrow.
- Ole Miss might think there’s a lid on the basket after they’ve missed their past five shots. Tameiya Sadler and Starr Jacobs couldn’t sink short jumpers in the lane. On the next possession, Kennedy Todd-Williams missed a long jump shot.
- If not for the cold spell, the Rebels would likely have expanded its lead over Baylor.
- As one tight 4-5 matchup ends, another is starting up, with No. 5 Ole Miss just slightly ahead of No. 4 Baylor through the first quarter. The two teams are trading blows, with both getting a few unfortunate misses and turnovers. Right now, the Rebels are on top, holding on to a 20-16 lead.
- The stadium is rocking as South Carolina pulls well ahead of Indiana, outscoring the Hoosiers 20-7 so far in this third quarter. A steal-and-score from Te-Hina Paopao and a three-pointer from Bree Hall sent the home crowd’s energy through the roof, with the Gamecocks pulling to a 12-point lead.
- Indiana guard Yarden Garzon quickly hit a three-pointer to cut back into that deficit, but things still feel well in hand for South Carolina now.
- An incredible game in Lexington marks the end of fifth-year senior Georgia Amoore’s career. Amoore helped build Virginia Tech into an ACC power and led the Hokies to the 2023 Final Four. When head coach Kenny Brooks took the Kentucky job a year ago, she and then-freshman Clara Strack went with him. Amoore will likely hear her name called in the WNBA Draft next month. Brooks told me a couple years ago she’s a little Becky Hammon given her size (on the small side for the W), work ethic (very high) and basketball IQ (like an additional coach on the floor).
- It’s still tight, but the Gamecocks have pulled just ahead of Indiana off a 13-8 run to open the second half. The home crowd in Columbia is definitely giving South Carolina’s an edge as the third quarter continues.
- Kansas State is headed to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2002 after beating Kentucky 80-79 in an overtime thriller. Temira Poindexter had a huge game for Kansas State, scoring a game-high 24 points, while Clara Strack led the way for Kentucky. Georgia Amoore scored 18 and had six assists.
- Poindexter gave Kansas State the lead back with about a minute left to play, and some great defense gives them the ball back on offense.
Temira Poindexter started the game 0-of-5 from deep. She’s now 8-of-15 from long range.
Incredible.

- Kansas State has hit some key shots to hang with Kentucky in this overtime period, with Temira Poindexter hitting a big 3 to tie things up late.
- In this incredibly tight contest, it’s only fitting we’re headed to overtime.
- Kansas State’s Serena Sundell tied the score at 69-69 with a short jump shot with eight seconds left in Lexington. Kentucky had a final shot, but Temira Poindexter blocked Dazia Lawrence’s last attempt and this game is going to an extra five-minute period.
- The 3-pointers are flying in Lexington. Georgia Amoore takes the lead back for Kentucky with a trey with 32 seconds remaining.
- K-State takes its final timeout with 17 seconds left to set up what could be the final shot.
- Once down by as many as eight, South Carolina surged at the end of this half, but Indiana had a quick response. A few Indiana turnovers has helped the Gamecocks get a second wind towards the end of the half, at one point taking a two-point lead. But a few key buckets, including a three-pointer from Sydney Parrish in the final minute, brought the Hoosiers back in front with a 26-25 lead at halftime.
- It’s been a tight game, with Indiana largely controlling the pace despite playing in a tough away environment. South Carolina, meanwhile, is showing strength on defense — Te-Hina Paopao alone has three blocks already, out of five total, while MiLaysia Fulwiley has two of the Gamecocks’ four steals — but is struggling with shooting, going 10-of-29 in the first half.
- Jaelyn Glenn and Temira Poindexter 3-pointers have put Kansas State back on top, 68-67, with 38 seconds left in the game.
TEMIRA POINDEXTER THREE POINTER. CATS HAVE THE LEAD. 39.8 SECONDS TO GO.

- Finally, one of these Wildcats teams buckles a bit. Kentucky goes on an 8-0 run capped by a Teonni Key layup and K-State coach Jeff Mittie calls another timeout to settle his team.
- Kentcuky leads 66-61 with 2:03 remaining in regulation.
- Dazia Lawrence gave Kentucky a 58-57 lead with 6:21 remaining in regulation after Temira Poindexter and Georgia Amoore trade 3-pointers.
- Kansas State coach Jeff Mittie calls timeout as the home crowd in Lexington gets louder for their Wildcats. He may need to pump up Serena Sundell, who’s gone scoreless in the second half after scoring 15 in the first.
- Amoore hit.a 3, tipped a pass charging into the halfcourt to re-gain possession for Kentucky, and delivered a slick bounce pass to Lawrence for the lead. Turn up, G.
- South Carolina got the initial jump in the defense-heavy matchup, but Indiana surged to 12-9 lead to end the quarter. The Gamecocks are defending well, getting four blocks and two steals in this first frame, but the Hoosiers have taken advantage of South Carolina’s own struggles with turnovers and shooting to pull ahead to a narrow lead.
- Kansas State-Kentucky is the most closely contested game we’ve seen so far. The stats through three quarters are nearly dead even and no one has gone up by more than seven. It’s back-and-forth during the second half.
- Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore has been quiet for too long (8 points, 3-12 FG, 1-5 3FG, 3 assists). A Classic Amoore Tournament will push Kentucky into its first Sweet 16 since 2016.
