The Washington Capitals play the Carolina Hurricanes in a rematch of a fight-filled loss from the week before. But the game has greater importance due to what Alex Ovechkin accomplished on Sunday.
Ovechkin broke the NHL goals record after scoring his 895th career tally against the New York Islanders. The Capitals are celebrating his accomplishment with a Gr8ness Pre-Game Ceremony.

Connor McMichael had an empty net but couldn’t find the right angle to get the puck past Andersen.
PLD hits the post after picking up a rebound from a John Carlson chance.
Jarvis heads down the other way and also hits the post.
Ovechkin nails Walker with a big check, knocking the helmet off the Canes defenseman.
Strome has an empty net this time, but he also can’t find the right shot. Unlucky few minutes for the Capitals.
Great pass from Ryan Leonard leads to Lars Eller drawing a hooking penalty on Jarvis.
Ovechkin with his third and fourth big hits of the game. He is engaged physically the most he has ever been this season.
