The Warriors and Rockets square off for the fourth time before the All-Star Break.
The Golden State Warriors (27-27) will cap a 6-game road trip by taking on the Houston Rockets (34-20) for each team’s last contest before the All-Star Break on Thursday night (8 ET, League Pass).
Here are five things to know before tip-off:
- Both teams playing on short rest: The Warriors and Rockets will both play on the second night of a back-to-back after all 30 teams in the NBA were in action on Wednesday night.
- Jimmy Butler III finding his joy: Butler has been locked in since Golden State acquired him at the trade deadline. In his first three contests, the Warriors are 2-1 with Butler averaging 22 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.7 steals in 31.7 minutes.
- Chef in his kitchen: Stephen Curry has been absolutely cooking recently, recording four consecutive games of 32-plus points and six-plus made threes from Feb. 5 – 10. He joined LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Karl Malone as the only players 36+ years of age with four straight 30-point games.
- Quinten Post’s hot hand: There’s a new postman in town in the Bay Area. The rookie, second-round pick out of Boston College, has started to catch fire off the Warrior’s bench. In wins over Chicago and Milwaukee, the 7-footer popped for 15.5 points while shooting 73.3% from the field and 63.6% from three-point range in only 17.8 minutes.
- Houston ready for the All-Star Break: The Rockets have really missed the leadership of Fred VanVleet, who’s been out since Feb. 1 due to a right ankle injury. Picking up another win before the break would be critical for Houston as they continue fight for positioning in the Western Conference playoff hunt.
