Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez and Gayle King are bringing designer style to space!
The women — alongside NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut and bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn — are blasting off in a Blue Origin rocket on Monday, April 14. It will be the first all-female space mission for Jeff Bezos‘ company.
When they take off, they’ll do so wearing astronaut suits that were custom-made and designed by Monse for the historic flight.

Sánchez, 55, told The New York Times that she partnered with Monse co-founders Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim in late 2024 to begin designing the suits.
“Usually, you know, these suits are made for a man,” she said, noting that they are then “tailored” for women.
That is no longer the case for the Blue Origin astronauts, who will take flight wearing fitted suits made of “flame-resistant stretch neoprene” with features that flatter the figure and allow slight customization such as zippers on the calves to create a flared leg.
The women underwent a 3-D body scan to ensure that their space outfit was perfectly fitted.
Sánchez described the results of their collaboration as “elegant” but added that “they also bring a little spice to space.”

Garcia noted that they wanted to embrace “simplicity” when designing. However, they also wanted to bring something “a little dangerous” to the outfits and referenced motocross outfits and ski suits as inspirations.
“I almost put a corset in your suit, because I know you wouldn’t have been against it,” he joked with Sánchez, who agreed that she would have likely embraced the idea.
While creating something “flattering and sexy” was a goal, Sánchez stressed that it was also important that the suits functioned properly during the flight. She recalled trying on early prototypes, saying, “I was stretching. I was doing a back bend. I was like, ‘Okay, let’s make sure it doesn’t split up the back in space.’ ”

Speaking to Elle, Sánchez, Perry, 40, and King, 70, discussed their glam routines for the space mission.
“Who would not get glam before the flight?!” Sánchez asked, adding, “We’re going to have lash extensions flying in the capsule!”
Perry chimed in, saying, “Space is going to finally be glam. Let me tell you something. If I could take glam up with me, I would do that. We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut.”
It was announced that the celebrities were joining the flight in February 2025. The flight is expected to take off around 9:30 a.m. ET, according to CBS.
