Jey Uso has a message for his critics ahead of his highly anticipated match against Gunther at WWE WrestleMania 41.
Jey Uso, who shocked the world by winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match, has faced his fair share of doubters. Despite already challenging Gunther for the World Title once before and losing to The Ring General many question whether Jey truly has what it takes to be a main eventer and capture the World Heavyweight Championship.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN‘s Andreas Hale, Jey explained what sets him apart from past underdog success stories like Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, and Kofi Kingston. “I never thought I’d be a top singles star,” said Jey, still shaking his head in disbelief. “Being the best tag team with my brother was the number one goal, but now I’m going from the preshow to the main event. It’s been an adjustment without my brother by my side, and I’m just now feeling OK on my own as a singles wrestler.”
Despite critics questioning his worthiness and chances of victory, Jey sees this opportunity as the culmination of 15 years of hard work. “I hear the naysayers,” Jey said. “They are saying I don’t deserve this opportunity and I can’t win, but it took 15 years to get here and now I have one shot after my number got called and I’m going to answer the damn call … and then we’re going to go party with the whole family, Vegas style.”
During an interview with Peter Rosenberg on WW’s Youtube channel. With WrestleMania 41 set to take place in Las Vegas, Triple H shared his thoughts on Jey Uso’s rise and criticism for his in-ring performance.

“Because people made it happen. Sometimes things happen organically along the way that get you to where you wanna be, and Jey, through the Bloodline saga, was sort of a linchpin in that storytelling, then goes off on his own. And, you know, a lot of people question whether these guys, once they leave the Bloodline, once they leave Roman, once they leave Heyman are they gonna be anything more than a tag team that they already were? Were they going to just be what they were? Are they going to succeed and be anything more?”
“You give them the opportunity to do all those things. Jey, when he had the opportunity to do it, would click on these moments. And at the end of the day, a lot of times, that’s what our business is just about. It’s about moments. A lot of people think and, you know, there’s a lot of criticism with this, right that it’s, it’s just the in-ring product. It’s just the this. It’s just how technically good of a wrestler you are. Make me a list of the greatest performers in this business, and that list will be two-thirds people that were worse than the majority of the list of great workers that didn’t get to the top”
