The Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets will face off Saturday afternoon in Game 1 of the Western Conference NBA playoffs.

This should be one of the best series of the playoffs, as the Clippers and Nuggets are evenly matched in both talent and championship experience. Watching the likes of Kawhi Leonard (two-time Finals MVP, two-time champion) and James Harden face off with Nikola Jokic (one-time Finals MVP, one-time champion) and Jamal Murray, with supporting casts featuring Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell, this matchup will be high-level basketball at its finest, with huge implications.

Denver and Los Angeles both went 50-32 this season, and there’s no doubt the Clippers have more positive momentum heading into the playoffs, as they have won eight games in a row and have immaculate vibes surrounding the team, in large part to Kawhi Leonard finally being healthy for a playoff run. The Nuggets, having recently fired championship-winning head coach Mike Malone, surely won’t help Denver’s confidence this postseason. Maybe the team can rally around his dismissal.
Denver and Los Angeles split their season series this year, with both teams winning two games a piece. The two sides haven’t met since Jan. 8, a blowout 126-103 win for the Nuggets in which they were led by Murray and Westbrook, who combined for 40 points. It will be hard to take much out of that for this matchup, however, as Leonard and Jokic both sat out that game.
