FOLLOWING ALL OF THIS WINTER WEATHER HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE NIGHT. OF COURSE, THE STORM SYSTEM WE’RE FACING ALREADY CAUSING SERIOUS FLOODING IN SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL KENTUCKY. GOVERNOR ANDY BESHEAR ALREADY DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT AHEAD OF THOSE STORMS. NOW FURTHER SOUTH, SOME PARTS OF TENNESSEE FACING LIFE THREATENING FLOODING. TONIGHT. Heavy rain has caused widespread flooding, evacuations and water rescues across Kentucky. The entire state has been under a flood watch and some areas are now under a flash flood warning.Governor Andy Beshear declared a State of Emergency ahead of the storms so they can utilize resources like the National Guard and boat crews. Officials report water is still rising in some areas and roadways across the Bluegrass state are experiencing severe flooding due to the heavy rainfall passing through the region.Water rescues have already been underway across the state.Crews with the East Bernstadt Fire & Rescue posted to social media that they have been conducting water rescues.”Well if you don’t have to be on the roadway do not be out traveling until some of this calms down…and you know if you see a flooded roadway don’t take the risk. If it looks like it’s over the roadway turn around…The saying is: ‘turn around, don’t drown,'” The East Bernstadt, Kentucky Fire Chief said. The Scott County Fire Department posted that they received a call for help rescuing people trapped or stranded by rising waters throughout the state. “We have answered this call for help by sending a crew of three Swift-Water Rescue Technicians and various rescue equipment to London, Kentucky,” the department said in a post.According to NBC affiliate WLEX, a driver has died after attempting to drive through flooded water in Clay County.Beshear has posted that they have opened Jenny Wiley State Resort Park for evacuees that need it.In northern Kentucky, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect for parts of Bracken, Mason, and Robertson Counties until 5 a.m. Widespread and heavy rain lasts through the overnight.
