Suggs’ appearance is making headlines not just for the sweet gesture but because of what it might mean for his return to the court. The 23-year-old guard was drafted No. 5 overall by the Magic in the 2021 NBA Draft.
He played 35 games this season before undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose fragment of trochlea cartilage in his left knee in early March, as reported by ESPN reporter Shams Charania.
“His return will be based on rehab, and he is expected to make a full recovery,” wrote Charania back on Feb. 5. While supporting Hailey, Suggs was seen moving well.

During the 2024-25 season, Suggs was averaging 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists before his knee injury. While showing promise, he is still developing on an Orlando team seeking its identity in the Eastern Conference.
Suggs inked a massive payday with Orlando last offseason, signing a five-year, $150.5 million extension. In the 2023–2024 season, he earned NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors, the third player in franchise history to achieve this.
Suggs was a standout in both basketball and football at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis — he led his basketball team to three consecutive Class 2A state titles. He also made Minnesota history by being named both Mr. Basketball and Mr. Football in the same year.
