Out of all the potential earth-shattering game announcements we were hoping for from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, a new IP from FromSoftware – the team behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring – was not one of them.

Our expectations were shattered, though, when The Duskbloods was revealed, which looks an awful lot like a previous beloved game from the studio, Bloodborne. Whether it is in any way a sequel or simply a spiritual successor remains to be seen, but given that it’s made by FromSoft, it’s almost certainly going to be a hit with anyone who enjoyed the 2015 title.
This game looks to mix Bloodborne’s gothic style with some futuristic elements that seem to not quite fit side-by-side. It makes for a strange look as the scenes that put you in mind of Victorian-era London are broken up by shots of a neon-lit train blasting across the steel scaffolding, and it gets even weirder as we see a robot with a jetpack fly off a cliff mid-way through the trailer.
We look forward to unravelling the mysteries behind this strange world when the game launches in 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
