DENVER — Former Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony has been elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025, according to multiple sources.
ESPN and other media reported his election on Wednesday morning.
Anthony was drafted third overall by the Nuggets in 2003 and played in Denver until 2011. During his time here, he built an impressive resume.
He led the Nuggets to the playoffs in every season starting in 2004. While with the Nuggets, he was an NBA All-Star four times, All-NBA Team twice, NBA All-Rookie First Team and Western Conference Player of the Week or Month 16 times.
He played once in the conference finals with the Nuggets against the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers in 2009. He never got to the NBA Finals.
In 2011, the Nuggets traded Anthony to the New York Knicks, where he stayed until 2017. After that, he had stops with the Thunder and Rockets before going to the Trail Blazers for two seasons. He finished his career with the Lakers. After 19 seasons in the NBA, he announced his retirement in 2023.
He retired as the No. 9 scorer in NBA history and finished his career with 28,289 points. He was a 10-time All Star and six-time All-NBA selection.
Anthony also played in 31 games in four appearances for Team USA at the Olympics, earning three gold medals and one bronze.
