The McLaren is holding firm, but Verstappen has the use of DRS.
This is coming down to the wire.

Max Verstappen has DRS and has the rear wing open.
He ahs a lap and a half to try and catch the McLaren driver and snatch the win.

Could there be one final twist?
DRS has been enabled.
If Max Verstappen can get within one second of Lando Norris, we will be able to open his rear wing. The gap is 1.3 seconds.
Meanwhile, Oscar Piastir has claimed to 10th and back into the points.

McLaren’s Lando Norris just needs to keep his cool.
He has a 1.6-second lead to Max Verstappen. The Brit has driven magnificently today and would be a deserved winner.

Once again, Lando Norris controls the field. He has done this well twice before.
Can he do it again?
Norris goes. Verstappen chases. Lando Norris get through the first corner and builds a small gap to Verstappen.
Mercedes driver George Russell is not far away in third.

It has been wild and chaotic, and we have a grandstand finish.
When the safety car comes in, Lando Norris will need to keep his composure and fend off world champion Max Verstappen.

Red Bull told him tpo stay out, but it was too wet.
Good call from Verstappen to come in. He could not keep going.
Liam Lawson is in the wall. A safety call is called.

MAx Verstappen has stayed out and is still going after everyone else pitted.

He has a big lead.
Red Bull have given themselves another lap to make a decision.
Lewis Hamilton also stayed out.

SPIN. Oscar Piastri spins and is out of contention.
Lando Norris dives into the pits. He went onto the gravel as well, but was abe to get back on track and keep the car pointing in the right direction.

Piastri reverses his car and gets it back on track, but he is out of contention.

The rain has started to fall.
How long will it last? Do the drivers need wet or intermediate tyres?
Lando Norris has a 2.7-second gap to Oscar Piastri.

Lando has control od the pack.
He waits and waits. GO.
Norrios hits the accelerator and is off. Norris gets a nice launch and puts a gap between he and Oscatr Piastri.
The McLaren’s are on the hard tyres.
Max Verstappen on the medium tyres, and he is hunting Piastri.
Heavy rain is expected to fall in four minutes.

The safety car is still out.
McLaren has just told Lando Norris that a short burst of rain could hit very soon.
They don’t believe it will last long, maybe just a lap, but the rain could be heavy. Too heavy for a field on dry tyres.

Fernando Alosno is out.
He spins and crashes into the wall. That is the end of the day for the Aston Martin driver.
Everyone is going to come in for new tyres. But what tyres will they choose?

After being told to hold position, Oscar Piastri has put a wheel into the gravel at turn six.
He kept the car going but lost about two seconds.
Now Piastri is being told he is free to race.
McLaren will say they made the earlier call because they wanted to get past the backmarkers, but that feels like a cop-out to me.

Well, McLaren’s promise of letting their drivers race appears to be out the window.
Oscar Paistri, who is in striking distance of :ando Norris, has been told to hold position for now.
“We should hold position please, hold positon.”
