Taylor Swift is going viral for getting booed at Super Bowl LIX, and Elon Musk and President Donald Trump are reveling in the fallout.

A clip of the pop star turning her head and mouthing “What’s going on?” as boos erupt at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9, is making its rounds online, with many comparing it to a video of Trump and his daughter Ivanka standing up at their seats as the crowd cheers.

“Taylor Swift got mercilessly booed. Trump got a hero’s welcome. Total culture shift,” X account @EndWokeness posted.

Musk replied, “Vibe shift is real,” likely referencing the backlash he has received from speaking about Swift publicly in the past. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO threatened to impregnate her in the fall and last month suggested that she did a Nazi salute during a performance more than a decade ago.

Swift was at the Super Bowl rooting for her boyfriend Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, as his team played the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite growing up in Pennsylvania and referencing the Eagles on her 2020 album “Evermore,” she’s been a Chiefs fan since dating Kelce and looked tense throughout the night as the Chiefs struggled for a three-peat after their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers last year.

The Chiefs lost 22-40 to the Eagles on Sunday, marking the first time that Swift saw them lose in the playoffs.

Poking fun at the Chiefs’ defeat and the crowd’s disregard for Swift, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform after the game that “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got booed out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

The president is likely referencing his frustrations with Swift that surfaced when she publicly supported Oakland native Kamala Harris’ campaign. He declared “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” on Truth Social after the “Anti-Hero” singer’s endorsement, which prompted Harris’ team to issue a playful statement in response that was riddled with easter eggs and song titles for Swifties.

Trump also gloated about the situation by sharing the same clips that Musk reposted as well as a screenshot from the X account @libsoftiktok that read: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed. The world is healing!”

Since Swift began attending NFL games to support Kelce in 2023, she has been a controversial figure in the league. Many football fans complain her presence is distracting and have claimed she is shown onscreen too much.

During Super Bowl LVIII between the Chiefs and the Niners, she was reportedly shown 12 times during CBS’ coverage, including when she kissed Kelce in celebration of his team’s victory on the field.

This prompted many to place bets on whether or not Kelce would ask Swift to marry him after this year’s game if his team won. BetMGM Sportsbook gave 8/1 odds on the proposal, but Swift and Kelce weren’t even spotted together at the stadium after the Chiefs’ defeat.

While the Niners didn’t make it to Super Bowl LIX, Sunday’s game featured an array of Bay Area talent including Oakland’s Turf Feinz dance crew and Grammy-winning musicians Ledisi and Terence Blanchard

Next year’s Super Bowl is set to return to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, where it was hosted in 2016. The logo for Super Bowl LX was unveiled on Sunday and features an image of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Transamerica Pyramid.
