The first title change of the night has taken place in the third match at WWE WrestleMania 41 night two, with Dominik Mysterio winning gold.
The opener saw IYO SKY retain the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, with Drew McIntyre scoring the win in the second match against Damian Priest.
Third on was the four-way for the Intercontinental Championship four-way between Penta, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor and defending champion Bron Breakker.
The obvious question going in was whether Balor and Mysterio would be able to work together after the recent teases of Judgment Day splitting up.
It seemned like they were on the same page for a while, but things broke down after Mysterio attempted a 619 on Balor.
Between the two, the crowd was actually behind Mysterio and he may well have been the most popular out of all four participants.
Penta had the match won at one point as he was pinning Mysterio but Carlito interefered and broke it up – he then went to try and put Penta through an announce table, but Breakker speared Carlito jumping from one announce table to the other.
Back in the ring, Breakker speared Penta but then at a 619 from Mysterio who was about to go for a frog splash but was cut off by Balor.
Balor then went for the Coup De Grace on Breakker, landed it, but was splashed by Mysterio to break it up, with Mysterio immediately pinning Balor afterwards to win the title.
Upon winning and celebrating, Mysterio got another massive reaction from the crowd.
This marks Mysterio’s first WWE main roster singles championship.
He’s previously been SmackDown Tag Team Champion with his father Rey Mysterio, and NXT North American Champion.
Breakker had held the title in his second reign since October after winning it back from Jey Uso, who’d won it from Breakker less than a month earlier.
