DeMar DeRozan becomes 27th player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points

DeMar DeRozan became the 27th player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points, reaching the milestone during the third quarter of the Sacramento Kings’ 128-116 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night at Golden 1 Center.

DeRozan surpassed 25,000 with one of his patented turnaround mid-range buckets at the 8:32 mark of the third quarter then received an ovation when recognized during a timeout with 5:42 to go.

“It’s always an honor,” DeRozan said. “It’s an honor, period, to be able to play this game at a high level. My 16th year, being able to be recognized in the top whatever it is of scorers in this league.”

DeRozan, 35, joins LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry as active players to reach 25,000 career points.

DeRozan has been as productive as ever in his first season with the Kings, averaging 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 48.6% from the field and a career-high 35.6% from 3-point range.
