OF COURSE YOU WANT TO TRY SOME OF THESE TIPS BEFORE IT ACTUALLY HITS US, BUT IT SNEAKS UP ON YOU. I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT WE’RE FAST FORWARD ALREADY. BUT THE BIG THING IS A COUPLE MINUTES OR EVEN HOURS GOING TO SLEEP EARLIER. WE THINK THAT’S HELPFUL, BUT IF YOU’RE A PARENT OF A CHILD, THAT’S NOT REALISTIC AND THEY’RE ON A SCHEDULE, THEIR INTERNAL BODY CLOCKS, KNOW, KIDS KNOW, THEY KNOW, BABIES KNOW, AND THEY WANT TO STAY UP LATER ANYWAY. NATURALLY. ANYWAY. SO A PARENT WANTS TO KNOW WHAT CAN YOU DO TODAY? WELL, WE WANT TO START BY MAKING THE ROOM DARK. OKAY? OKAY. WE STILL WANT TO TRY TO TONIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT, SENDING THEM TO BED A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THAN WHAT THEY’RE USED TO GOING TO SLEEP. SUPPOSE THEY’RE USED TO GOING TO SLEEP AT 8:00, MAYBE 745 WHEN WE START HEADING UPSTAIRS AND WE WANT TO TRY TO MAKE THE ROOM AS DARK AS POSSIBLE, IT STILL MIGHT BE LIGHT OUTSIDE. SO IF YOU HAVE SOME BLACKOUT CURTAINS, THAT’S GREAT. IF YOU HAVE TO GET CREATIVE AND PUT A DARK SHEET, EXTRA, EXTRA LAYER OVER THE WINDOW, THAT’S GOING TO BE GOOD. BUT ROUTINE IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO JENNIFER. AND ROUTINE SIMPLY MEANS GOING UPSTAIRS FOR THAT BATH, BRUSHING THOSE TEETH, AND EVEN A BOOK. THE BORING OR THE BETTER. DON’T MAKE IT EXCITING. DON’T MAKE IT EXCITING AT ALL. LASTLY, SOME EXERCISE IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON WE THINK MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE AND IT KIND OF MAKES SENSE IF YOU GET YOUR KID NICE AND TIRED, ESPECIALLY OUTSIDE, AND THEY’RE GETTING THAT DAYTIME LIGHT. WE THINK THAT THAT PLAYS A BIG ROLE, A BIG ROLE IN THE BODY. RELEASING MELATONIN NATURALLY AND SO THAT HOPEFULLY RIGHT AROUND 715 SEVEN 3745 8:00 AT THE LATEST, READY TO TO GO DOWN A LITTLE BIT. WHAT ABOUT FOR BABIES? BECAUSE BABIES KNOW WHEN IT’S BOTTLE TIME, WHEN IT’S BEDTIME, WHEN IT’S TIME TO GET UP. HOWEVER, ONE OF THE TIPS THAT WE GIVE PARENTS IS TO BE SYMPATHETIC TO THE BABY, THAT THEY MIGHT BE A LITTLE OFF THIS WEEK. THAT’S OKAY. WE DO THINK OVER TIME THAT IT’S GOING TO IMPROVE, AND PARENTS WANT TO KNOW, WELL, YOU KNOW, HOW LONG CAN WE BE IN THIS ROUGH PATCH FOR, SAY, USUALLY WITHIN 3 TO 5 DAYS IT’S GOING TO GET A LITTLE BIT BETTER. BUT THE BIG THING IS GOING TO BE BEING EVEN OUTSIDE FOR BABIES. WE JUST HEARD DALENCIA WONDERFUL WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS WEEK. BEING OUTSIDE. WE WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT. ALL RIGHT. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE NEGATIVE HEALTH IMPACTS THAT CAN HAPPEN WITH THE CHANGES IN THE CLOCK? ABSOLUTELY. SO ROTTEN BABY. ROTTEN TEENAGER. ROTTEN EIGHT YEAR OLD. THEY’RE JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE ROTTEN HUSBAND THAT’S IT. RIGHT. SO IF THE KIDS ARE ROTTEN, THE PARENTS AND ADULTS ROTTEN. BUT THEY CAN BE CRANKY, GROGGY SOMETIMES EVEN IN SCHOOL, YOU MIGHT START TO GET A CALL HOME OR AN EMAIL FROM THE TEACHER THAT THEY HAD A DISRUPTIVE DAY, MORE DISRUPTIVE THAN USUAL. BUT AGAIN, TEMPORARY. AND AGAIN, WE WANT TO BE SYMPATHETIC. SO EVEN IF WE DO GET ONE OF THOSE LITTLE TEXT MESSAGES FROM THE TEACHER, WE DON’T WANT TO BEAT OUR KID UP TOO BADLY.
