Coco Vandeweghe predicts whether Seb Korda can beat Novak Djokovic at the Miami Open

Seb Korda has been ticking along superbly well at the Miami Open but next up he takes on Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian legend has hit his straps at this competition but Korda has already knocked out Stefanos Tsitsipas and Gael Monfils.

Korda has tasted the winning feeling before, claiming two career titles and he currently occupies number 25 in the ATP world rankings.

Facing Djokovic is going to be a thankless task but with the legendary player now 37, there is a sense that he can ensure a rough night for him.

The 24-year-old doesn’t have much to lose and the chance to reach a semi-final at the Miami Open will be an opportunity that he’s keen to grasp.

Vandeweghe reached number nine in the world rankings during her professional career and now she’s on The Tennis Channel.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash with Djokovic she’s shared how Korda can trouble the player with 24 Grand Slam titles.

She’s also offered a prediction for the match and she still fancies that Djokovic will prevail.

Vandeweghe told The Tennis Channel: “He’s going to have a lot of dog in him, Seb Korda, to get this one done. That has been the question mark for me personally about Seb Korda.

“Does he have that grit and fight in him? I don’t know if he has that right now against Novak, who has a chip on his shoulder because that is a different level you have to match. I am going to pick somebody and go with Novak.”

The man who was coached the likes of Pete Sampras and Roger Federer is also covering the sport on The Tennis Channel in Miami.

He’s had his say on the match in store and he believes that Korda might have a secret weapon to bring to the court against Djokovic.

Annacone said: “Seb Korda, to get this one done. That has been the question mark for me personally about Seb Korda. Does he have that grit and fight in him?

“I don’t know if he has that right now against Novak, who has a chip on his shoulder because that is a different level you have to match. I am going to pick somebody and go with Novak.”

Whatever happens, Korda will hope to give it a good go and there really is nothing for the American to lose.

He will likely have the home crowd on his side and given that Djokovic hasn’t played a run of games since the Australian Open, there’s definitely a sense he could capitalise if he’s not fully fit.
