LEXINGTON, Ky. − Chaz Lanier set the Tennessee basketball record for 3-pointers in a season Saturday against UCLA.
Lanier made his 119th three to break Chris Lofton’s record of 118, which he set in his senior season in 2007-08. He made two in the first half against the Bruins at Rupp Arena before making his third at the 16:07 mark of the second half.
He joined Lofton and Santiago Vescovi as the three players to make more than 100 3-pointers in a season in UT history. Lanier made his 100th 3-pointer at Ole Miss on March 5.
Lofton also made 114 in 2005-06 and 106 during the 2006-07 season. Vescovi made 102 in the 2021-22 season as a junior.
Lanier made eight during Tennessee’s 77-69 win at Texas A&M on Feb. 22. He made seven against Baylor on Nov. 22 in the Baha Mar Championship. He made six in UT’s NCAA Tournament opener against Wofford on Thursday. He also made six against Virginia on Nov. 21 in the Bahamas and against Norfolk State on on Dec. 31.
