The Cavs (56-11) had their franchise-record 16-game winning streak snapped by the Orlando Magic, 108-103, on March 16. After their own version of March Madness was halted, Cleveland holds a half game lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record in the NBA. They have a 7.5-game lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

Franchise centerpiece Donovan Mitchell returned to action after missing two games with groin soreness. He notched 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Mitchell is averaging 24.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 44.8% from the field, including 38% from beyond the arc.

Star point guard Darius Garland chipped in 19 points, six rebounds and four assists in the loss to the Magic. He is averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 47.7% from the field, including 40.8% from beyond the arc.

Power forward Evan Mobley missed the Magic game with a right foot contusion. His absence proved how vital he is to the Cavs’ deep playoff hopes. Mobley is averaging 18.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 56.8% from the field. He is questionable for tonight’s contest.

The Clippers (31-37) are right in the middle of the play-in picture, currently sitting in the eighth seed, one game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves. Los Angeles has won three games in a row, all by double digits.

Guard Norman Powell’s breakout campaign continues as he is averaging 23.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 49% from the field, including 42.2% from beyond the arc.

Star shooting guard James Harden remains a consistent threat. He is averaging 22.5 points, 8.7 assists and 5.9 rebounds while shooting a career-low 39.8% from the field, including 34.6% from deep.

It’s the first meeting between the two teams this season. Los Angeles will travel to Cleveland on March 30 for a return tilt at Rocket Arena.
