The Celtics will continue to be shorthanded as they face the Magic in Game 5 of the first-round series. Jrue Holiday was downgraded to out on the injury report for the third straight game due to his right hamstring strain. Jaylen Brown is also questionable with his right knee posterior impingement issue.
Holiday picked up his hamstring issue in Game 2, the last time he played in the series. The guard was originally listed as questionable ahead of Game 3 in Orlando before being downgraded as a game-time decision. But since then, he’s started on the injury report as out, which now includes the 8:30 p.m. Tuesday Game 5. Hamstring issues are notoriously tricky, so it’s unclear when Holiday could be back on the court.
“He’s doing well,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said Saturday. “He’s day-to-day. Just taking it one day at a time. Kind of seeing how he comes out of it.”
Brown also continues to be listed on the injury report as questionable due to his right knee injury. He’s been questionable heading into the past two games but ultimately played. The All-Star hasn’t looked 100% like himself because of his injury, but he’s still affected the victories anyway.
Jayson Tatum (right wrist) is no longer listed on the injury report, just like ahead of the Game 4 victory. He missed Game 2 due to the bone bruise in his wrist but has been crucial in the Celtics’ past two games, scoring 36 points in Game 3 then a 37-point night in Game 4.
The Celtics are up 3-1 on the Magic as they look to close out the series on their home court. That’ll be crucial as the C’s are dealing with some lingering injury issues on their roster.
