A small plane crashed shortly after takeoff around 10:12 a.m. on Friday, April 11, near Boca Raton Airport, killing all three people on board, officials said.
According to Boca Raton Assistant Fire Chief Michael LaSalle, the aircraft experienced “some mechanical issues at takeoff” before going down on Military Trail, about a mile from the airport. The plane was en route to Tallahassee.
A driver on Military Trail was injured after swerving to avoid the smoke and fireball from the crash and striking a tree. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, LaSalle said.
