Right before the 68-team NCAA Tournament bracket is revealed, there’s one final matter that needs to be sorted out before Selection Sunday can officially commence — who will be crowned the men’s Big Ten tournament champion?
The final teams, at least, have been set: No. 3 seed Michigan and No. 5 seed Wisconsin will face off Sunday afternoon in the 2025 Big Ten title game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
After suffering through a late-season skid in which they lost their final three regular-season games, the Wolverines and first-year head coach Dusty May have come alive in the conference tournament, blowing past No. 6 seed Purdue 86-68 on Friday before getting by No. 2 seed Maryland in an 81-80 thriller on Saturday, with speedy guard Tre Donaldson scoring the game-winning layup with less than one second remaining.

Like Michigan, the Badgers have been one of the Big Ten’s most pleasant surprises this season. A team that was picked to finish tied for 12th of 18 teams in the conference’s preseason poll is No. 14 nationally in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. As he has for much of the season, guard John Tonje has helped carry coach Greg Gard’s squad in the Big Ten Tournament, scoring a combined 58 points on 17-of-25 shooting in a quarterfinal win against Northwestern and a semifinal win against Big Ten regular-season champion Michigan State.
