HOUSTON — Free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs won’t be returning to the Houston Texans next season, according to multiple reports.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter are both reporting that Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, has reached an agreement to join the New England Patriots next season.
Diggs played part of one season with the Texans after a trade last offseason that brought him to Houston. He played in eight games before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in an October matchup against the Colts.
While a member of the Texans, Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns.
He’s been in the league since the 2015 season, playing with the Minnesota Vikings for five seasons before spending four seasons with the Bills. For his career, he has 857 receptions for 10,491 yards and 70 touchdowns.
According to NFL.com, Diggs’ deal with the Patriots is a three-year, $69 million max contract.
Earlier this offseason, the Texans traded with the Jags to bring receiver Christian Kirk to Houston. They also picked up wide receiver/kick returner Braxton Berrios from Miami.
