Auburn forward Johni Broome went down with an apparent elbow injury during Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup against Michigan State. Broome, the SEC player of the year, jumped to block a shot attempt of a Michigan State player and came down awkwardly, immediately grabbing his elbow.
Broome, 22, walked off the floor under his own power to the locker room but returned five minutes later at the 5:29 mark of the second half, immediately knocking in a 3-pointer.
Just about everything had gone Auburn and Broome’s way up until the injury. Broome’s injury occurred at the 10:37 mark of the second half, with the Tigers holding a 50-40 lead and trying to fend off the Spartans to book a trip to the Final Four. When Broome exited the game, he had 22 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting from the field.
Per the CBS broadcast, Broome went to the locker room for X-rays and came back to the game after they were negative.
