Stard guard Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t just beat the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1, they ran them off their home floor. Minnesota won 117-95 at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday, and could go up 2-0 with another road win on Tuesday.
This would put the Lakers at a significant disadvantage, as they’d have to win Games 3 and 4 in Minnesota to avoid the dreaded 3-1 series hole. However, LeBron James has experience in that situation, as he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to victory over the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals after suffering that deficit.

“I know they say in the playoffs you wanna steal one and steal home court advantage, but we’re good enough to take two games,” the 23-year-old said. “So, let’s be ready to play tomorrow. They’re gonna be ready, so we gotta be ready.”
Edwards scored 22 points (8-22 FG, 4-9 3 PT) with eight rebounds, nine assists, and one steal on Saturday.
Jaden McDaniels led Minnesota with 25 points (11-13 FG, 3-3 3 PT) and nine rebounds in 35 minutes. The Washington alum added two assists and one steal.
Meanwhile, backup center Naz Reid outscored the entire Lakers bench with 23 points (8-12 FG, 6-9 3 PT) to go with five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 31 minutes. Los Angeles’ reserves scored a combined 13 points.
The Timberwolves must key in on Luka Doncic, who tallied 37 points (12-22 FG, 5-10 3 PT) with eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals for the Lakers in Game 1.
