While it seems like American Idol just kicked off season 23, the show is already preparing to narrow the contestants down to just 12 singers. Over the last few weeks, the contestants poured their souls out on stage as Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and even Jelly Roll offered them advice for the upcoming live shows. And tonight, the remaining singers will stand under the spotlight as they celebrate members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Marking a special night as American Idol will announce the 2025 inductees into the Rock Hall, the contestants will perform specific songs from previous inductees.
Although viewers at home will be watching their favorite singers, ready to vote, Ryan Seacrest will do more than host. During the show, he will announce the newest members to land in the Rock Hall. With singers and groups like Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Phish, Soundgarden, Billy Idol, and more on the list of nominees, the singers have a plethora of hit songs to pick from. And speaking of Rock Hall members, Richie was inducted back in 2022.
Besides getting help from Jelly Roll, American Idol will also welcome another Rock Hall member, James Taylor, as the guest mentor. And don’t forget, after the performances, fans will be able to vote for their favorite singers.
Outside of moving into the Top 12, it appears that Underwood’s stint on American Idol might not last long. Speaking with The Sun, an insider suggested the country star struggled with the distance between Nashville and Hollywood. “Her Idol future is much more uncertain now than it was and I think that feeling is mutual. She seems miserable being away from her family and in LA this much.” They added, “I don’t think she wants to have to answer to TV networks and play the ‘Hollywood’ game so it wouldn’t be a surprise if she’s one and done.”
Having to travel between the two locations, Underwood seemed to be missing her family, which included her sons Isiah and Jacob. Her husband, Mike Fisher, also waited for her to return to their 400 acres of land nestled in the suburbs of Nashville.
Although the future for Underwood is uncertain, the insider concluded, “But again, no decisions have been made yet from either side.”
